Itinerary: 3-day tour from Fes to Marrakech

Day 1:Fes - Ifrane - Ziz Valley - Merzouga Desert

Your desert tour of Morocco begins with an early morning departure from your hotel or riad in Fes. Heading towards the fascinating desert landscapes of Merzouga, our first stop is Ifrane, known as the ‘Switzerland of Morocco’ for its alpine style and cool climate.

Continuing through the Middle Atlas Mountains, we’ll stop in the cedar forests of Azrou to observe the Barbary macaques, a species unique to the region. Lunch will be at a restaurant along the way, giving you the chance to relax and enjoy your meal.

As we approach Merzouga, we’ll admire the panoramic views of the Ziz Valley, a lush oasis of palm trees. In the late afternoon, you’ll set off on an unforgettable camel trek through the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi, stopping to admire the sunset from a high dune. The evening will be spent in a luxurious desert camp, where you can enjoy traditional Berber music and storytelling around the fire under a starry sky.

Day 2: Merzouga Desert - Rissani - Todra Gorge - Dades Valley

Wake up early to witness a peaceful sunrise over the dunes. After a delicious breakfast at the camp, you can choose between a camel trek or a 4×4 journey back to Merzouga.

From Merzouga, we’ll travel towards Boumalne Dades, passing through Rissani, Erfoud and the spectacular Todra Gorge. If your visit coincides with a market day in Rissani (Tuesday, Thursday or Sunday), you’ll be able to explore the traditional market and immerse yourself in local culture. Stroll through the Todra Gorge and admire the impressive rock formations.

Once in Boumalne Dades, we’ll take a scenic drive through the Dades Valley, famous for its dramatic rock formations known as the ‘monkey fingers’. Spend the night in a charming hotel, nestled in the heart of the Dades Valley.

Day 3:Dades Valley - Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah - High Atlas Mountains - Marrakech

The last day of your desert tour from Fes to Marrakech begins with breakfast at your accommodation before heading towards the Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah. We’ll travel through the picturesque Valley of Roses and Ouarzazate, passing through charming Berber villages.

In Ouarzazate, you’ll have the opportunity to visit the Atlas Studios or take memorable photos from the outside. A few kilometres away lies the famous Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, known for having been the film set for numerous productions such as Game of Thrones and Gladiator.

After exploring the Kasbah and enjoying lunch, we’ll continue our journey through the High Atlas Mountains, crossing the Tizi n’Tichka pass. We’ll arrive in Marrakech in the late afternoon, bringing your 3-day desert excursion to a close with an unforgettable Moroccan adventure.
